Breathing New Life Into a Familiar Brand: A Chosen Road Branding Session in Gallatin, TN
It had been a while since I shared a session like this, but I knew I wanted to circle back to this one. This fall branding shoot with Chosen Road was, without question, one of my favorites to date. And yes, I may be a little biased. My husband Jonathan is the handsome bass player in the photos, and I’ve been along for the ride with this band in more ways than one.
This was our fourth branding session together, and I’ll be the first to admit that creating something fresh after several shoots with the same group of people can feel like a challenge. Same five guys. Same five instruments. Same goal: keep things creative and on brand.
But when we booked this location through Avvay, a creative space rental platform I can’t recommend enough, and stepped into this dreamy historic home in Gallatin, Tennessee, it all clicked. Each room had its own personality, its own texture and mood. The house felt like a character in the session, not just a backdrop. And suddenly, the creative energy felt brand new again.
I want to share this shoot not just because I love the way it turned out, but because there’s something valuable here for other artists, small business owners, and brands who might be feeling stuck. Maybe you’ve already done a few shoots. Maybe you’re tired of seeing your face. Maybe you feel like you’ve run out of ways to tell your story visually. I get it.
But here’s the truth: your brand still needs you. Your people still want to see you. And you don’t need a completely new concept or a flashy outfit change every time. Sometimes all it takes is a space that inspires you and a photographer who can see your story with fresh eyes.
For Chosen Road, regular photoshoots are essential. With new tours, albums, and projects always in the works, having updated visuals helps them stay connected with their audience and build momentum without scrambling for content. They’re currently signed to Thoroughbred Records, a division of Daywind Music Group, and staying visually consistent is a key part of their brand growth.
And from my side of the camera, having a creative partnership that spans years allows us to lean into trust and familiarity while still pushing into new territory.
That’s where location really matters. When you’re shooting often, changing up the space can bring new life to what might otherwise feel repetitive. This house gave us everything from refined, moody corners to relaxed, lived-in spaces. It helped us explore a full range of tones, from buttoned-up to laid-back, without ever switching locations.
And at the heart of it, that’s what branding photography is all about. Helping your audience see who you are and what you do, through images that feel true to your voice. It doesn’t have to be complicated. It just needs to be intentional.
This session reminded me why I love what I do. Not just because I get to photograph my favorite band, but because I get to help artists and entrepreneurs bring their vision to life in ways that are beautiful, honest, and real.
If you’ve been putting off photos for your brand because you don’t feel camera-ready or creative enough, I hope this encourages you to rethink it. There’s room for new stories. And you don’t have to tell them alone! 🫶
